The Negril Tree House Resort in Negril, Jamaica is great! We stayed there in Feb 2009 when my son was 11 months old. Each room includes a small kitchenette with a fridge and stove, so you can make/store food for the kids. Each room has a small deck with a swing – great for relaxing. They also have pack & plays for guest use and even offer babysitting services.

Everyone says Beaches in Turks and Caicos. Been there and I agree. But have been hearing good things about Paradisus Palma Real Reserve in Punta Cana.

The extra effort made by any Four Seasons to cater to the little guests is amazing. We’ve stayed at the Chicago location and the Boston location and had great visits.

Within driving distance, try the Chesapeake Hyatt or the Hilton in Ocean City, MD. Both are great in late spring when it’s just a little warmer south of NY. Both are very family/kid friendly, yet still nice resorts. Each one is on the water, has multiple pools, nice big rooms and good restaurant options on site (Hyatt) or nearby (Hilton). Worth the drive.

Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic has activities for kids during the days and provides babysitters at night. It is also one of the biggest and best resorts in the world. Can’t go wrong!

DEfinitely you should head to Costa Rica. With hundreds of nice resorts and very reasonable prices you can have a great vacation with the family. I would recommend Conchal Resort, Marriot Los Suenos, Marriot Pinilla or Tambor. Children activities are programmed all day, you can also take the older kids snorkeling or water sking while the younger ones play in the sand.

Okay… don’t cringe…. A CRUISE! I know, I thought it was cheesy too, but I’m a mommy convert! If you depart from one of the NY/NJ ports there is NO FLYING! How easy to get a car service there and back? Once there, you unpack and you’re done! Grab a cocktail, put the older kiddies in “camp” and start the vacation. The kids have a GREAT time with their new friends and with all the child centered activities while you can do ADULT things! There is also PRIVATE BABYSITTING on many of this ships (check the web-sites) for a nominal fee. Put the bambina with the sitter and go have a lovely dinner alone, or take the kids with. So easy! So relaxing! Wake up and you’re somewhere lovely and warm. Go to the beaches, explore cute island towns. Sure it’s not the remote unique adventure vacay you took before baby, but it’s still great!

A cruise. Norwegian leaves right from NYC so no long car rides or flights to deal with. For kids over 2 they offer day camp and for babies they have an “under 2 zoo”, a safe play area filled with toys and kids to play with. The dining room accommodates all dietary requests as well and the staff goes out of their way to make sure kids have a great time. We just went from NY to the Bahamas and our 1 year old loved it.
