I give compliments to Nannies for being Committed, Loyal, Helpful, Respectful, Responsible and Patient humanitarians. The duties of parents (single or married) can be a bit much sometimes. It offers a bit of relief to know that our children will be in good hands, when we are off to work, running errands, having an evening or a night out, or even in an emergency situation. A weekly pay is to compensate for Nannies time, their effort, patience and loyalty to our children should not be and must not be overlooked. We must remember, nannies are help raising a whole new generation of children. I find it appropriate and decent to give a extra to a deserving nanny. We depend on them, they offer such a genuine service.

We have 2 sponsor children in Guatemala that we have supported for the last 4 years and have seen twice. We plan to go back to their town this summer to volunteer and spend time with them. We participate in many animal outreach opportunities around NYC. I want my daughter to love and respect everything around us, not just humans. We have our environment and the other animals in it that we need to co-exist with. Our children are our futures, and I hope that I raise a socially conscious and compassionate child!

Our family has 5 sponsor children. We write letters, draw pictures, send photos, send gifts and enjoy receiving letters and updates too. We spend time discussing ways to help the children and their families and our hopes for them with our children. Seeing how other children live, and how our family can make a difference for them really seems to strike a cord with our children- they can connect with the kids and the idea of helping really well.

My husband and I volunteer with NY Cares on the weekends. I usually cook in the soup kitchen while he works as a greeter at the door. Its a good deed AND a bonding experience!

Our family is very involved with the Museum of Jewish Heritage, a LIving Memorial to the Holocaust. Both my husband and I are third generation survivors, both of us have grandparents who survived, and it is incredibly important to us to keep the memory of our grandparents and those who perished alive. If you would like to get involved or learn more, please go to www.mjhnyc.org

We donate money to a variety of charities that help animals, children and other groups of people in need. As my son gets older I'd like to take him to do more volunteer work in a hands-on capacity.

My husband and I are very involved with our temple. Two times a year they have a Mitzvah Day-all day there are volunteer activities all over the city that one can get involved in. We have been bringing our daughter since she was an infant. Now that she's 2 we pick activities she can be involved in. As she gets older we will probably find other volunteer activities that we can do as a family-like working at a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving mornings.
