I work painting murals for chldren, and I love to paint and create with pastels for my own creative outlet.
.
As far as hobbies that are separate from painting, I love to make hats and hair accessories since I have a costume background, and I’m obsessed with creating artistic cakes that not only look good but taste good! (I need to take some classes to learn how to blow sugar and take it to the next level)
Jennifer of Verde Studio.com (will be posting the latest cake soon, a life size owl- Harry Potter’s pet)

I’m a bowler. Since I was 13 a use to compete in national tournaments, now I have a 13 month old baby and I’m 24 weeks pregnant, but I still try to find time to do it, at least once a week in my Saturday night league. I take the play pen with me and I put it just behind the lane Im bowling. I also have a lot of babysitters willing to give me a break while I’m bowling, I have my teammates, the 12 year old girls that looove my daughter and other friends that are bowling in the league too. I wish I could do it more often but at least once a week is enough to keep me enjoying one of the things that I love the most.

Lately I have enjoyed taking Brazilian Dance. I am a working mom – so on the day I work from home, I head to a class right around when my daughter is getting ready to go to bed – it’s a 7:30 pm class once per week and my husband will cover. This way I get to see my daughter during the day and have some mommy time at night. The Flexibility I get with my job really helps! But whether a class or a run, figuring out a plan with my husband or babysitter really helps!

I write. I keep a blog and I try to write short stories and personal essays. I submit to random magazines and websites. It’s a way to keep my mind moving.

My husband and I like to do 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles at night once our son goes to bed. It’s relaxing and stress reducing and you feel so accomplished when you finally put that last piece in! Other than that, sometimes we play Scrabble or Backgammen for some friendly bets :) .

I love scrapbooking, but the first year of my daughter’s life it was hard to find the time. However now that we are in her second year I try to work on organizing her pictures 1-2 x a week in the evening!

I am an artist and don’t have the space to create here in our current living situation, so to allow myself some ME time. I have a babysitter come in for 4 hours a week (in one day), I go out, enjoy a little retail therapy, get a manicure and a cheap massage. The feeling of sheer accomplishment and relaxation is priceless!

I love Israeli Dancing. Although I don’t get to go too often, once a month or so my husband stays home with my little boy and once he goes to bed I head off to dance. It’s so much fun to get out and dance!

I love photography…so take tons of pics of my kids and then edit them. I am not very good but I like the act of taking the pics and working with them.

Baking and cooking – it’s a creative outlet that happens to be relaxing and fun for me, and the bonus is that my family eats the finished product so it’s easy to devote time to it! Plus when the little one is older, she will enjoy helping.

I try to change hobbies every so often. At the moment, I’m in a homey phase, repairing and restoring all the things that need fixing and have since the pregnancy. As for when, naptime is pretty much go time. As soon as she’s down, the table is covered in scraps of whatever I’m working on…

I enjoy taking yoga classes for exercise and relaxation. As far as hobbies, I love designing and have recently been making custom printed books out of photos, starting with the baby shots of course. But I have a long list of other books I want to make, from vacation, events and honeymoon. We are also in the process of buying a home, so I can’t wait to decorate it. I used to play a lot of tennis and I miss it now. Maybe I’ll start it up again this Spring if I can find people to play with.

Hey everyone.. Having children is great but expensive. I have a 19 month old daughter and a 3 year old son. I alao know with everyone having kids or they are pregnant they have no time to go out to work and not everyone is financially stable well ladies I have a solution. I have my own business called Juice Plus. It is nutritious snacks and food for children and adults. You can either become a distributor or you can become a customer.

Look at my website and see for yourself… http://www.cathymjuiceplus.com and let me know what you think.

I really enjoy feedback..

In addition to working on my weekly newsletter of kid-friendly events in NYC (www.nyceast.macaronikid.com), I love cooking! I take as many cooking classes as I can at the Williams-Sonoma on 59th St. The classes are at night and generally start well after my daughter has eaten her dinner and is getting ready for bed, so it’s not the toughest sell for my husband to take over the bedtime process so that I can have some “me” time. And of course, the entire family benefits from what I learn when I make the recipes at home!

I am a quilter, and I send my husband and son to visit my inlaws so I have some time to cut fabric, sew, or just look through my stash. In the evenings, after my son has gone to bed, I like to just flip through quilting books and magazines for inspiration and relaxation.

I love to knit. It is a great way to relax at the end of the day and I can make gifts for the people I love. An added bonus is that my daughter plays with the bots of loose yearn left over and thinks she is “helping” mommy with projects so I don’t always have to wait for a nap or bedtime to do it.

I have two hobbies that are quite simple but when I do them I feel like ME again. Just ME! The first is reading books that take my mind completely off my life. Often these are books that I might be embarrassed to tell others I am reading (i.e. trashy novels!) but they are the best. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to read a book that you hate just because everyone else is reading it or it is cerebral. Somehow knowing that when I get in bed at night I can’t wait for the no brainer novel that is waiting for me!

My second hobby that I have taken up as of light is dance classes at the gym. I can squeeze this into my week atleast once a week and I feel like I am 20 all over again! Super fun and no judgement attached.
