Post an answer by Sunday, April 25 at midnight and be entered to win a “Lose Your Mummy Tummy” DVD, a Tupler Technique guidebook and a Diastasis Rehab Splint from Diastasis Rehab.
Info about prize:
If you have a “mummy tummy” or a bulge in your belly that won’t go away no matter how much you exercise and watch your diet…then you probably have what is called a diastasis recti. This is a separation of the outermost abdominal muscles. This separation will also cause low back pain. A diastasis can be treated with the research-based 4 step Tupler Technique Program. This program was developed by Julie Tupler. She is an RN, childbirth educator, fitness instructor and creator of Maternal Fitness. Julie has worked with pregnant women and new moms since 1990.
This Diastasis Rehab package is what you need to help you close your diastasis. Included is the two-hour Lose Your Mummy Tummy DVD, Tupler Technique guidebook and Diastasis Rehab Splint. The DVD will teach you the Tupler Technique and a exercise routine incorporating the Tupler Technique. The guidebook is a small book that you can carry with you. It is a summary of the 4 steps of the Tupler Technique as well as a chart telling you what you should be doing daily and how to progress the exercises over six weeks. The splint is a corset-like binder designed to approximate (pull together) the separated muscles. Wearing a splint will speed up the healing process of the connective tissue as well as make the exercises more effective. A closed diastasis means a flatter belly and a stronger back.

Wii Fit- get the EA sports active cd for it. Worked wonders this winter and with a toddler and newborn (so much harder to get to the gym when you have more than one). I am planning on pushing that heavy double stroller all over the park this summer to keep fit now.
I use Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred DVD when I am at home and need a workout. I do this early in the morning, during naps or late at night. Its a 20minute workout, but its pretty challenging and definitely burns calories! I also go to Strolla’ Momma’s exercise class in Central park. It meets on M/W/F at 10:30 in front of the Delecorte theater if anyone wants to come! Its only $10/class and its a great workout and a lot of fun! As far as eating habits go, I just try to eat small portions of healthy foods throughout the day to keep myself from getting so hungry that I want to eat everything in site. Having a toddler reminds me to snack b/c he wants to snack all the time!
I love the Wii Fit – it definitely helps keep me motivated. I also love jogging with the jogging stroller in the park.
bought an elliptical after first baby three years ago..best thing I ever did…can hop on first thing in the morning or late at night…newborn can watch me from bouncy seat
I try to walk everywhere, run various errands at lunch (and pick the furher away gap instead of the one close to the office, etc.)
Weight watchers online! I think writing down what you eat really helps you make better choices.
i find that the best exercise is just running after my kids and pushing a stroller everywhere!
Since my son was born in August, the first thing I did was just walk everywhere. In fact, having had a c-section, I actually did a little too much walking. But it trimmed a lot of weight off. For the last 10 lbs, I did Wii’s EA Sports Personal Trainer. I still enjoy doing it, but now that the weather is nicer again I prefer to go back to walking.
Wanting my son to eat healthy has cleaned up my diet. I can’t snack on cookies and then expect him to have steamed veggies for a snack. I eat his food.
spring cleaning is helping me right now! not only is it a lot of extra physical, the effect of being organized makes it easier for me to go and do other things- like hit a pilates class or go for a walk. feeling more organized and active makes me happier- which makes less stress eating! and all of that combined makes me want to be more careful with my diet. it is a win win situation!
Walk everywhere – and do the Namaste Yoga classes on the cable channel during naps!
Incorporate exercises into caring for baby: When comforting my crying baby I do squats-up and down up and down. Instead of bending at my back to pat and shush, I bend my knees, butt out with back striaight and hold it (til it burns!). When walking from room to room, I do lunge walks. etc. Plus I attached my bike to a stationary trainer in the living room so I can ride while baby watches/sleeps.
I got a new baby carrier and have been exercise walking around the resevior with the baby. Carrying an extra 20ish pounds burns a lot of extra calories for minimal extra activity and the baby gets in a good hour+ nap.
Walking all over Park Sloper while pushing a double stroller with 2 kids in it, and carrying a third baby in the Bjorn seems to do the job for now.
My double stroller makes for a good workout. At home, I use the babies as “weights” and lift them in different directions to workout my arms. I also lay on the ground with the baby resting on my knees/shins and do some pilates moves. Every little bit helps!
I make sure to start the day with a healthy breakfast such as oatmeal or quinoa flakes and add almonds or coconut flakes and a little agave or honey for sweetness!
Mostly I walk with them everywhere and try to be as active as I can when at the playground or indoor playspaces instead of just sitting around watching them. When the sitter comes, I make it a point to save my last half hour of me time for the treadmill or a jog in the park!
I walk everywhere, even from the Upper East to the Financial District. I also eat goji berries and cranberries as a snack all day….plus lots of water and green tea @ night!
