Boppy and breast pump!!! I don’t know what I would have done without either. Boppy is so versatile, don’t put it away when baby is too big to use it for breastfeeding. Use it for support when baby is learning to sit on his/her own, and also as pillow for when baby can feed him/herself! 9 months later, the breast pump is still used 6x/day!!

The best thing that I had when my daughter was an infant was a Bundle Me.It allowed us to go out even when the weather was cold and I was sure that she was warm enough! She never needed a jacket or a blanket!

Michelle B Posted on November 11, 2009 at 10:53 am

Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference. For breast feeding moms, the hooter hider or any type of breastfeeding apron is key! You can take it wherever and feed whenever :)

rena koenig Posted on November 11, 2009 at 10:53 am

I was breast pumping four times a day and needed Lansinoh nipple lotion / cream as water.

Boppy – nursing pillow!!

7.
Jennifer Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:06 am

The Boppy pillow! I still use it every day and my baby is 6 months old now.

8.
Anu Sehgal Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:11 am

The boppy pillow. Not only did it help in breast feeding, but also helped prop my little one.

Daniela Burg Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:12 am

Couldn’t live without the kiddopotamus swaddle!! It velcroed close so my son couldn’t wiggle out of it. Comes in different fabrics including a thin cotton and a warm cozy fleece, so you can change it depending on the season. Gave us many peaceful nights!!!

Laura Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:14 am

My video monitor and swing!

Lauren Berger Franklin Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:14 am

My LIFESAVER with a newborn is a mobile for the infant car seat made by Tiny Love. It is called the clip and go musical mobile. It plays classical music, and is absolutely a MUST when out and about! It always either put my son to sleep, or entertained him before he could play with toys or hold anything!

12.
Jaime Horowitz Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:22 am

DVR/Netflix Account – runner up is definitely a nursing pillow!

13.
Jessica Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:25 am

If you are breastfeeding – A Breast Friend.
Hands down the best product. I lived and probably slept in it the first 2 months!

14.
MA Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:27 am

I definitely found the My Breast Friend to be indispensable while nursing!

15.
Jill Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:36 am

I loved my sling from Kangaroo Korner. I was able to get so much done while having my baby sleep on me.

16.
Kiera Jekos Posted on November 11, 2009 at 11:49 am

Aden + Anais Swaddling Blankets, without a doubt!

17.
Liora Posted on November 11, 2009 at 12:13 pm

My hotsling. It was the only thing that was a sure fire way to calm my daughter, even during the afternoon “witching hour.”

18.
Lainie Gutterman Posted on November 11, 2009 at 12:16 pm

With my newborn Ian, I can’t narrow it down to just 1 must have! I’d be lost w/o the following:

-Moses Basket
-Swaddle blankets
-itzbeen

Jenna Posted on November 11, 2009 at 12:19 pm

Mardi Tanzer Posted on November 11, 2009 at 12:30 pm

The bouncy seat was our ‘must have’ product. It was most comfortable for our daughter since she had severe reflux. She slept most of the day/night in it!

21.
Liz Posted on November 11, 2009 at 12:35 pm

Lots of burp cloths! I also loved the bebe au lait nursing cover.

22.
Ann Elizabeth Posted on November 11, 2009 at 12:39 pm

My first must-have product was a boppy pillow! I thought that my arms were in decent shape a-la Michelle Obama, but they weren’t ready to continuously hold an 8lb baby for 15-20 mins straight while breastfeeding!

23.
Monika Estrada Posted on November 11, 2009 at 12:47 pm

For em the best product was the vibrating chair, I don’t know what I would have done without it!!! I left the baby there while I took shower or had lunch and it gave me at least 30 minutes a day for myself.

24.
Kelly Posted on November 11, 2009 at 1:06 pm

a few items we love:
*cheap wire frame fisher price bouncy seat — ours was actually a hand-me down from my sister. we also bought fancier seats, but this one was a hit with both of my kids and all 3 of my sisters.
* kirkland sigantures brand wipes (although they’ve changed them!)
* Swaddle Design swaddle blanket (I actually prefer this one to the Aden & Anais)

Ashleigh Posted on November 11, 2009 at 1:14 pm

The Miracle Blanket was our saving grace for calming and swaddling our baby at night…she wasn’t able to wriggle out of it like she was the velcro-closure ones.

26.
AP Posted on November 11, 2009 at 1:20 pm

The My Breast Friend nursing pillow (I tried the Boppy first, but this one was better) and the Happiest Baby on the Block book.

27.
Rebecca Levington Posted on November 11, 2009 at 2:16 pm

Miracle Blanket and wipes warmer!!!

28.
Kelly Garcia Posted on November 11, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Breast Friend nursing pillow and Miracle Blanket!!!!

29.
Melanie Posted on November 11, 2009 at 2:51 pm

While I didn’t have it with my first, I plan to buy the round Patemm diaper changing pad (http://www.patemm.com/about/) for my second, ‘cuz I think it’ll make the millions of diaper changes easier. But I agree with the above posters recommendations about My Breast Friend too!

30.
Bonnie Friedman Posted on November 11, 2009 at 3:22 pm

My Breast Friend, which I still use now that my daughter is almost seven months, although not quite as much after perfecting the side-lying position. I also really loved the fisher price rocking chair with a vibration mechanism that we were given as a gift. It was the only thing that would calm her for about 20 minutes.

31.
allison Posted on November 11, 2009 at 3:27 pm

aden and anais swaddle blankets!!

32.
Philo Posted on November 11, 2009 at 3:28 pm

I couldn’t have done without my sling / baby carrier. Took lot of walks with my daughter whenever she was fussy. Helped every time!

33.
Emily Posted on November 11, 2009 at 3:39 pm

Tons of cloth diapers for all the spit up. My daughter was a huge spitter-upper for the first six months and I went through about six of these a day.

I also loved the Bebe au Lait nursing cover for public nursing

34.
dylan’s mom Posted on November 11, 2009 at 3:46 pm

sleep sacks are great for winter babies! also big fan of bundle me!

35.

the Happiest Baby on the Block and ergo carrier

36.
Adriane Posted on November 11, 2009 at 4:22 pm

The Baby Bjorn Babysitter 1-2-3 Activity Bouncer!! I definitely relied on this to engage, entertain or calm my baby down whenever he’d had enough of being held in my arms. The blocks attachment was a great way to help him learn how to use his hands and arms when he was developmentally ready. We brought the bouncer to weddings, friends houses and even across the country as a place to put him and let him sleep or play during meals. Best of all- no batteries, music or bright lights! All you need is a foot to rock it.

Jillian Posted on November 11, 2009 at 4:32 pm

The nomie baby (http://www.nomiebaby.com) car seat cover saved me from exploding diapers, and it was so easy to put on and throw in the washing machine and dryer!

38.
Wendy M. Civale Posted on November 11, 2009 at 4:42 pm

The Nomie baby car seat covers are such a great idea!! I am a bit of a neat freak and it’s great not to have to constantly wipe down the car seat and actually be able to WASH it! How simple, yet up until now no one has ever thought of it!

39.
lisa Posted on November 11, 2009 at 5:30 pm

Wine…is that wrong?

40.
Jane Gerard Posted on November 11, 2009 at 5:40 pm

I LOVED the miracle blanket. My husband and I could follow the easy instructions and swaddle our bundle iperfectly in a few seconds. the miracle blanket is a must have!

41.
Katie Posted on November 11, 2009 at 5:43 pm

Anyone that I give the http://www.nomiebaby.com car seat cover to (and especially when I give the newborn-to-toddler gift set), says “This is the most practical gift I have gotten so far!” And now that I’m pregnant, I get to have my own nomie!

42.
Wendy Armbruster Bell Posted on November 11, 2009 at 6:05 pm

Definitely the Nomie Baby carseat cover (because you know they are going to spit-up RIGHT after you take the whole carseat apart to wash the liner it came with) and the MoBoleez breastfeeding bonnet – WAY better than a nursing cover functionally and fashionably!

PumpEase is amazing for all nursing moms, because we can all use an extra hand!!

44.
Jillian Posted on November 11, 2009 at 6:44 pm

The nomie baby (www.nomiebaby.com) car seat covers are a lifesaver from those exploding diapers. Don’t know how they poop all the way up their back, but the covers are so easy to put on AND they go in the washing machine and dryer! They are a must-have!

45.
Alisa Posted on November 11, 2009 at 6:49 pm

The Ergo baby carrier – never could get ANYWHERE without it!

46.
danielle Posted on November 11, 2009 at 8:34 pm

My mobile for the stroller – kept my baby so happy during our long walks!

47.
Ellen Posted on November 11, 2009 at 10:00 pm

I used these cloth diapers as burp cloths and for my son’s various and frequent spit-up messes. I always had one within reach. They were the BEST.

My Breast Friend. I thought the idea of using it was awful but the boppy didn’t work for me. I worshipped that thing.

Patagonia one-peice fleece thing. Perfect for being able to take baby everywhere.

Baby carriers- ergo and bjorn, hooter hider, swing, swaddle blankets, infant sleep gowns (so you don’t have to unbutton little legs from sleepers at every night feeding!

51.
Jodi Posted on November 12, 2009 at 9:10 am

For a fussy newborn- mylicon or gripe water. If all else fails with a fussy baby, a good bottle of wine.

52.
Debbie Posted on November 12, 2009 at 11:44 am

Pre-reading of The Happiest Baby on the Block, as well as the Bundle Me. It is the best for a winter baby in the infant seat!!!

My must have newborn products was Fennel Seed capsules, a breast pump, and pads to stop the leaks from happening!

59.
Carol Posted on November 14, 2009 at 10:05 pm

Boppy! My husband loves it, too.

If you are nursing and pumping…a pumping bustier or bra so you can read a magazine, type on a laptop or just relax while pumping.

60.
Jodi Posted on November 15, 2009 at 8:37 pm

Hippomus Swaddle blanket! My son slept thru the night after 6 weeks and we owe it all to the swaddle blanket!

61.

62.

A Miracle Blanket swaddling blanket. I got it as gift as it was amazing.

63.
Nancy Posted on November 15, 2009 at 11:23 pm

Sore nipple ointment!!! I had two different brands, Lanisoh and Medela. The other must-have was nursing pads. I had so much milk and leaked buckets.

64.
Diana Posted on November 16, 2009 at 5:28 pm

The two best things we had for our daughter when she was born was the Fisher Price Papasan Swing and “The Happiest Baby on the Block” DVD!

65.
Jessica Kreider Posted on November 22, 2009 at 3:09 pm

so many things… boppy, breast pump, my t.v.(!), but I really loved my snap ‘n’ go stroller. I had two others, very high end, but that one was the greatest while she was a peanut!
