It all started in February of 2006…
Laura Deutsch is the founder and creator of babybites. Laura experienced the transition from being a working woman to stay-at-home mom challenging, lonely, and stressful. She understood the importance of spending time with other new moms but found it difficult to find new mom friends. Laura’s vision was to create a venue where new moms could easily meet, socialize, and feel a sense of community with other new moms.
Laura held her first babybites luncheon in February 2006 on the Upper East Side and the response from the community was overwhelming! Emails poured in from moms all over NYC asking Laura to bring babybites to their part of town. She responded by starting babybites luncheons on the Upper West Side and in Murray Hill. In response to more requests Laura enhanced the babybites program to include events for expectant moms, sample classes around town, parenting seminars, support groups, toddler activities, and special events for the whole family.
Fast forward several years and babybites has become a household name in the New York area mommy world. babybites is the place for moms and moms-to-be to network, socialize, learn, share, play, and be part of a supportive community.

Heather Ouida always thought that motherhood would get a whole lot easier once her two boys entered school. She quickly realized that although she left the sleepless nights and toddler tantrums behind, a whole new set of age-specific challenges arose. As she always did when she had parenting questions, Heather turned to Laura Deutsch, founder of babybites.
Together Laura and Heather co-founded kiddybites. They decided to use babybites’ already successful format and tailor it to the needs of parents with children aged 4+. Kiddybites’ mission is to provide advice and education through seminars and events, to help parents better support, understand and interact with their children.
Heather used her experience—both as a mom as well as a learning specialist with over 15 years of experience in London and at Dalton in Manhattan—to establish a lecture series that fosters the physical, emotional and intellectual development of children, facilitated by top child and parenting professionals.
Heather lives on the Upper East Side with her husband Jordan and their two sons. Here are some “fun-facts” that Heather posted about herself in one of her blog posts:
“In addition to all the standard, run-of-the-mill facts you can read about me on my bio, here are a few juicier tidbits: (1) nothing makes me laugh harder than hearing my sons laugh; (2) I eat one jar of Nutella a week (straight up); (3) I have been addicted to yoga for years and still can’t touch my toes; (4) when I met my husband he had a Mohawk; (5), I was once escorted at gunpoint from the Giza Pyramids in Egypt for mistakenly entering a restricted zone (my-bad); (6) Chuck Bass (enough said); and, (7) I am crazy-passionate about moms supporting each other without passing judgment. babybites Consultants
Below is a list of just a few of our many babybites consultants. Our consultants are a group of babybites and kiddybites moms that meet regularly on a volunteer basis to brainstorm ideas for parenting seminars, kid’s classes and large events like our mommybites summit. They also spread the word and give feedback on baby and kid products and services. Their input and support has been instrumental in the continued growth and success of babybites and kiddybites.
Beth Bitton Satlin – Beth is a proud mommy to Jacob and happy wifey to her husband Mike. She is a high-school social worker on the Upper West Side. She has made some wonderful mommy friends through babybites and is happy to be a babybites consultant.
Heather Corrigan – Heather is the VP of Sales at her own company, GoGORILLA MEDIA, and recently started a party planning business called Heathers Heydayz for all your party planning needs. Heather also runs a book club and is proud to be a babybites consultant! She is the proud mother of Jack Ryan (4) and Siena Pearl (9 months). Christa Ferrick-Fitts - Christa is a certified pastry chef whose career has spanned working for Hyatt Hotels, Estée Lauder, Inc., Whole Foods Market, Dean and DeLuca and Fairway Markets. She is currently writing two cookbooks – one focusing on organic, whole foods for toddlers and the other specializing in gluten-free desserts. She is also a full-time mom to her marvelous toddler, Quinn, and supportive wife to her wonderful husband, Vincent.
Jennifer Link – Jennifer is Sweet Pea Baby Planner’s New York City Director. Parent preparations, including gear, are among her specialties. Formerly, Jennifer worked in the music business as a VP in Marketing. www.sweetpeababyplanners.com/jlink
Nicole Peck – Nicole is the group marketing director for the largest beauty trade show and media portfolio in the b2b marketplace. She has held numerous strategic marketing roles at the group and corporate levels. When she finds that elusive free time, she enjoys knitting and cooking.
Traci Scott Karo – Traci is a true momtrepreneur. When she’s not doting on daughter Audrey, Traci runs Stuff for Sprouts, creating all natural lotions and creams for kids in fun scents. www.stuff4sprouts.com
Jessica Silverstein – Jessica’s a Mom, Resume + Career Advancement and Management Expert, frequent speaker (socially and professionally) and Principal of Attorney’s Counsel. For fun she eats cupcakes.
Jill Starishevsky is an Assistant District Attorney in New York City, where she has prosecuted hundreds of sex offenders and dedicated her career to seeking justice for victims of child abuse and sex crimes. Jill is also the author of My Body Belongs to Me, a children’s book intended to prevent child sexual abuse by teaching children that their bodies are private.
Leslie Blaustein - Leslie is a tutor focusing on helping children develop a love for learning. She offers Tutoring/Remediation/ ERB Prep – for all academic subjects. Leslie brings a creative approach to reading, math, and writing! Sarah O’Malley – Sarah is a full time working mother of very active and engaging 14 month old twins, and lives on the UES. She is employed in the oil industry both managing the company’s investments and developing corporate strategy. Sarah’s background is is in private wealth management, and she is a graduate of Columbia Business School, where she studied finance.
Misha Snyder, LMSW – Misha runs a program called Belly Babes: How To Look Like A Babe Even With A Bump. Belly Babes is a Style and Fashion focused Support/Information Group Helping Expecting Mama’s Look And Feel Amazing. (bellybabes.org). Misha is also a licensed children’s therapist and have worked with families and children in NYC for over ten years.
Monica Storch – Monica is a mom to a very spunky 2-year-old, and publishes www.nyceast.macaronikid.com, a free weekly e-newsletter and website that highlights all of the great things for kids and families to do in New York City.
Aimee Weber – Aimee is the proud mommy of Harry Daniel! She is a first grade teacher at an independent school on the Upper West Side. She is happily married to Bram. While she was on maternity leave, Aimee attended a few of the babybites luncheons and thought they were quite helpful. Plus, she made some nice new mommy friends.

Refund Policy for all babybites events
To receive a full refund you need to cancel at least 72 hours prior to an event. A credit to be used towards any future event will be given to those who cancel within 72 hours. Cancellations the day of an event will result in a credit unless it is a sold out event in which case a refund will not be issued. There are no refunds or credits given for no shows. Credits expire 3 months from the date of the missed event.
REFUND POLICY FOR SUPPORT GROUPS
There are no refunds or credits for missed sessions. However, we know that life happens….if something unexpectedly comes up, we would be happy to transfer your registration to another group during the current or next session (as long as the new session is of equal or lesser value and there is space available). Being a mom takes lots of juggling and flexibility! All transfer requests must be sent to your program director Jenny Fenig (jenny@babybites.com) or Renee Sullivan (renee@babybites.com) before the second meeting. In the unlikely event that babybites must cancel a support group, refunds will be issued and/or you’ll have the option to transfer to another group of your choice. See you on the journey!
